Green Beech Hedging Plants

Fagus Sylvatica, ‘Common Beech’

Green Beech is a much loved hedging plant that is one of the most popular choices for both country and town hedges. The wavy dark green leaves of the Green Beech change to the most wonderful golden hue in autumn and if trimmed in autumn, the dying leaves are held on until the new growth arrives in spring. Green Beech therefore makes a great alternative to a fully evergreen hedge. Green Beech is an excellent choice for a formal, native hedge tolerant of exposed conditions. For soils prone to drought or heavy clay, waterlogged soils, Hornbeam is a more suitable alternative.
