Castlewellan Gold Leylandii Trees are fast growing evergreen conifers forming a great screen or tall hedge. Contrary to popular belief Leylandii trees can be maintained as a superb dense formal hedge If regular trimming is carried out from the start. Leylandii can be used effectively as a windbreak and will also reduce noise pollution. Leylandii are tolerant of most types of soils and conditions. Castlewellan Gold Leylandii tend to put more energy into bushing out at an early age than the green leylandii and because of this they are often deemed slower growing. Although Green leylandii may grow slightly faster vertically, they then require time to fill out once they have reached the desired height. So, In terms of achieving a solid hedge at 6 foot high, there would not be much to choose between two varieties other than colour preference. An excellent choice for a fast growing Golden coloured evergreen that will create a hedge or screen relatively quickly.

Our Minimum order for rootballed or Instant hedging plants is one pallet. The quantity of plants that fit on one pallet is shown for each variety and size. There is NO vat to add to these prices. Please contact us for a quote for delivery.
Rootballed plants are available in bigger sizes from October through to April, weather dependent. These plants are grown in bigger sizes going up to 3 metres in height. Rootballed plants are lifted during the plants dormant period. This reduces the amount of stress imposed on the plants and increases the chances of successful re-establishment. Plants are also lifted to order to minimise the time they are stored out of the ground before replanting. Although rootball plants may seem expensive many of these plants will be between 6-15 years old and will have been root pruned and trimmed many times before they are lifted. Rootball plants tend to be bushier than pot grown plants as they have been out in the field and more exposed to the elements. They are lifted from the field using specialist machinery and the soil rootball is hessian wrapped to protect it. This protective wrapping should be left on at planting and will naturally bio degrade.
All our Castlewellan Gold Leylandii Trees are container grown and will have a fully intact and undisturbed root system. They will establish quicker than root-balled plants with fewer losses as there has been no disturbance to the root system. We recommend that Leylandii Trees are not planted as bare rooted plants as in our experience bare rooted Leylandii do not survive.
